The first part of the dissertation was undertaken to examine the prevention and cure effects of plantasan in rats fed with high cholesterol food. Methods: Male rats were divided into 6 groups randomly according to their serum TC level and body weight. The ordinary group was fed with normal food and the control group was fed with high cholesterol food. The other three of the groups were ig. Plantasan solution which dosage were 0.25g/kg/d, 0.75g/kg/d, 2.25g/kg/d respectively and at the same time they were fed with high cholesterol food. The rats in the sixth group were given with 0.75g/kg/d king of fibers and fed with high cholesterol food. Serum TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C of the rats were determined after the above treatment on the 14 days and 28 days. Results: The rat's LDL-C level fed with plantasan on the 14th day is lower than the control group. The serum TC and the LDL-C level on the 28th day are lower than the control group remarkably. Conclusion: Plantasan have significant effects on rats fed with high cholesterol food .The second part of the dissertation was undertaken to find out whether the plantasan have the effects on lowering blood glucose in diabetic rats resulted from ip.STZ and Adrenaline respectively and on the fast glucose in normal rats. We also investigated the effects of plantasan on the glucose tolerance in normal rats and the diabetic rats. Method: 1. ip. STZ to selectivity injure the pancreatic B cells of the rats to make them be high blood glucose then ig. 0.75g/kg/d,2.25g/kg/d plantasan solution successively and on the 15thday and30 day respectively to determine the fast blood glucose and the glucose tolerance at the last time in the rats. 2.The normal rats were ig. plantasan solution successively for 6 days (the dosage were 0.25g/kg/d, 0.75g/kg/d, 2.25g/kg/d respectively). Then fast the rats for 12 hours and ip. Adrenaline to observe the blood glucose after treated 90min and 135min. Results: l.The Plantasan and king of fibers have the small effects on lowing the blood sugar in the rats induced by STZ and have no significant difference with the control group in statistics. Its effects on the glucose tolerance in the diabetic rats are the same results.2. The middle and the high dosage group of Plantasan have significant effects on the glucose tolerance in the normal rats after taking sugar 30min and have no effects on their fast blood sugar. The same results were got with king of fibers.3. The high dosage Plantasan group and the king of fibers group have significant effects on the blood sugar of the rats after treated with Adrenaline 90min and 135min which indicates that Plantasan can counteract the action of Adrenaline in the rats. Conclusion: The high dosage Plantasan can improve the glucose tolerance in the normal rats and reduce the high blood sugar in the rats resulted from Adrenaline .
