Objective:To observe the anesthetic effect of target-controlled infusion (TCI)with propofol used in induced abortion operations. Methods:Forty ASAⅠpatients who selected induced abortion free from pain were included, and none of them was allergic to medicine. They were all forbidden to eat and drink for six hours. All patients were unpremedicated. The anesthesia was induced and maintained by TCI with propofol, and the blood target concentration of propofol was set for 6μg/ml throughout the anesthesia. We started the TCI after disinfecting, and the operation was began after the eyelashes' reflection disappeared. Kept the patients' breathing independently during the operation and stop infusion pump after extending cervix. We continuously monitored the mean artery pressure(MAP),the heart rate(HR),SpO2,the heart rate variability(HRV)and the bispectral index(BIS).At the same time, we recorded the induction dose and total dose of propofol, as well as the time of inducting ,waking and orientation regaining. Also we observed the undesirable reaction and complications, including the topical pain of injection, respiration inhibiting(SpO2<90),body activity and the postponed wakening. Results :① Induction dose was 91.14±23.39(mg) and induction time was 66.9±26.94(s).Total dose of propofol was 115.99±28.03(mg).The wakening time was 244.5±84.53(s)and the orientation regaining time was 328.95±92.77(s).②There was a low-grade descent with MAP and SpO2 after the beginning with TCI(P<0.05,compared with that before operating),which was still in normal. They could only last for a short time and recovered to the level before operating(P>0.05,compared with that before operation). At the same time, LF and HF gradually descended after anesthetizing (P<0.05,compared with that before operating)and LF began to ascend with the stop of TCI, while HF began to ascend after the operation. Besides, LF/HF increased gradually. But the BIS descended with the minimum of 57.3±9.99 while extending cervix, then it ascended slowly after the TCI finished. ③ One patient felt a slight pain in the intravenous injection part at the beginning of anesthetizing, and the pain could be relieved without any treatment. Two patients had brief body activities while extending cervix, however , it soon disappeared. As a result, they had not been feeling about the operation at all. None of them had respiration inhibiting and postponed wakening. Besides, neither allergy nor nausea vomiting happened till the end of the operation .Conclusion:Hemodynamics was relatively stable during the anesthesia induction and maintenance period using TCI with propofol in induced abortion operations. And the patients could get well soon without complications, such as nausea, vomiting, etc. So this kind of anesthesia method is applicable completely to the policlinic induced abortion operations.
