It is a very important element of traditional acupuncture to diagnose and treat disease with auricular point and auricular needling. In the "Moxibustion Classic of Yin-Yang Eleven Meridians" excavated from Western Han dynasty mausoleum, It was first recorded as 'Ear meridian' which was connected with upper limbs, eyes, cheeks and laryngopharynx. There were discussion about the relation of the ear and the zang-fu organs & meridians in the book "Huangdi's Classic of Internal Medicine". The first auricular point atlas appeared in Ming Dynasty after hundreds of years development. Not until a ear atlas which looks like a handstand fetal was described by Dr. P.Nogier in 1950s, the auricular needling technique and its research flourished all over die world. The modem auricular points are not the same as those that were recorded in literature of Traditional Chinese Meidine(TCM), most of them are nominated with Western Medicine(WM) nomenclature and the names of them are corresponded to the organs of WM, The method to select auxiliary points is based on location and pathological changes according to WM. diagnosis. This diesis is designed to investigate the relationship of modern auricular points dieory and TCM theory. In TCM doctrine of meridians, on physiological basis, the six yang meridians all transit or enter the ears directly and indirectly, the six yin meridians are indirectly related to die ears by collateral to yang meridians. As the center of meridians, die physiological and pathological changes of zang-fu organs can be reflected on auricular points through linkage to meridians. In clinic research, Dr. Liangduo Jiang advances die hypodiesis diat die syndromes of TCM are interrelated to auricular points. This project selects the stagnation of liver-qi syndrome as research aim, records die positive points and regions of ear through Ashi point detection. The objective is to study the correspondence between die stagnation of liber-qi syndrome and auricular points. The thesis includes three parts: dieory study, literature summarization and clinic investigation.1 .Theory study: In tiiis part, die history of auricular points dieory development and die progress of experiment research are reviewed. There were different viewpoints of TCM about die relationship between auricular point and zang-fu organs, but tew of further study have been carried on since die auricular atlas published in Ming Dynasty. The modern auricular points research are derived from the handstand fetal-like auricular atlas, it was discovered that those auricular points which are named with organ appellation have close nexus widi organs, however, no study focus on die relationship of auricular and die zang-fu organs, meridians, syndromes of TCM. This is die main problem should be solved by this diesis.2.1iterature summarization: By reviewing the ancient and contemporary literature, the summarization are made out on the syndrome name, disease cause and padiogenesis, treating mediods and principles, modem evolvement and pertinence of the syndrome, diagnosis and treatment of die syndromes of stagnation of liver-qi. After analyzing the clinic application in recentdecade, we find the auricular point therapy have its obvious advantage, owing to its good curative effect, simple operation, few expense and wide application.3.Clinic investigation: Method: 63 cases patients of the syndrome of stagnation of live-qi and 52 cases health are collected from outpatient department of Dr. Liangduo Jiang and community. They are divided into observation group and control group. 26 auricular points and regions relating to zang-fu organs are chosen to press in order to find the Ashi points, which is taken as the positive points. Objective: By comparing the positive auricular points rate of observation group with those of control group, we expect to affirm the possible auricular points and regions accordant to the syndrome of stagnation of liver-qi. Result: (l) There are eight points that show significantly different between observation and control group. They are: l...
