Tetrahydropalmatine Female Rats Serum Prolactin Levels

OBJECTIVE: Studying the effects of .L-tetrahydropalmatine (L-THP) and d1- tetrahydropalmatine (dl-THP) to female rats with low serum prolaction(PRL) caused by pergolide (Per) and bromocriPtine (Bro). METHODS:The model of female rats with low serum PRL was made by Subcutaneous Injection of Per and Bro. Then , injecting the L-THP and dl-THP to these models by intraperitone way to study the effects of L-THP and dl-THP on the level of serum PRL. RESULTS: The level of serum PRL of female rats was remarkably and quickly reduced by injecting Per and Bro. And the reduction effects can be antagonized by injecting Injecting L-THP. However, injecting dl-THP has no such effects to the models. CONCLUSION: L-THP may be considered as an antagonist of dopamine D2 receptors.
