order to reveal the relationship between the expression of P27 gene andclinicopethological features or progrosis in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC),30 tissue sections of HCC patients were stained with P27 monoclonal antibody byimmunohistochemical technique, These HCC patients underwent curativehepatectomy in the Hospital affiliated to Qingdao University Medical College fromFeb. 1990 to Oct. 1998. The stained cells were caculated as P27 labeling list(Li). TheT test univiariate analysis (Kaplan-meier method) and multivariate analysis (coxproportional hazard model) were employed.The results revealed that the P27 Li in carcinoma tissue was higher than that inadjacent noncancerous liesions or normal iver tissues. P27 Li is significantly lower inlarger size group(p=0.003), poor differentiation(p=0.014) andadvanced TNMstage group (p=0.001) than that in the other group respective, In univiariate analysis,overall survive rate was apparently lower in large size group(p=0.0467), advenacedstage group(p=0.0388) and decreased expression of P27 group(p=0.0197). Innultivianriate analysis, P27 was an independent factor of prognosis in HCCPATIENTS(P=0.003). It was suggested that P27 geen played a very important role in thecellular proliferation and differentiationof many malignant tumours, it was anindependent prognostic marker in HCC patients after curative resection.
