Objective: The aim of this study were to provide the clinical and experimental basis for the V-Y method which was used for the treatment of chronic achilles tendon rupture so that try to introduce the V-Y method further. Method: 15 chronic achilles tendon rupture patients were operated by means of V-Y method and were followed up. Another 73 New Zealand white rabbit were operated by means of V-Y and Lindholm method after the chronic achilles terdon rupture model were established. The histological and biomechanical tests were carried out after the operation. Results: (1) 15 patients were followed up 4 to 12 years on an average of 8 years; All of 15 patients were excellent according to Amer-Lindolm critieria. (2) The blood circulation of achilles tendon were not affected after the V-Y operation and the postoperational histological recorery was good; The postoperetional morphological recovery of muscle spindles was superior to the Lindholmæ¯ method. (3) After the V-Y method, the breaking strength, linear strength, linear stress, linear slope, elastic coeficient and energy absorption were higher than those of the Lindholmæ¯ group by 22.7%, 27.5%, 13.5%, 35.2%, 21.1%, 15.2%, respectively with very significant difference (P |
