Objective To investigate the changes of activity of nitric oxide sytvthase(NOS) and its isozymes in NO deficient hypertensive rats and the effect of am 10 dip in e. Methods Eighteen male Wlstaryoto WI(Y) rats were randomly divided into three groups: l.Coritrol group (C) : 2. L group treated with nitro rginine methyl ester(L-NAME 50mg kg cU in drinking water; 3. L+A group treated with U AME as above and amiodipirie (5mg kg d . Body weight(B) of all rats was weighed each week, and systolic blood pressure was measured every two week. At the end of 8 eek treatment, the hearts(II) and aortas(A) were collected and weighed, and the Il/B and the A/B ratios (%) were accounted The ascending aortas were pathologically observed or the ititimal area edial area ratio(1/M%). ie activity of total NOS (TNOS), inducible NOS(iNOS) and constitutive NOS(cNOS) of hearts and aortas were detec ted.
