Tianjiu therapy, one of the traditional moxibustion therapies in China, is also called natural moxibustion (zijiu) or cold moxibustion. Tianjiu therapy has a very long history and is widely used among the people. Now it is often applied to many different diseases and has remarkable curative effects, especially in treating allergic bronchial asthma (asthma for short) and allergic rhinitis. This article showed you curative effects in treating the two diseases and probed into the therapeutic mechanisms in it. And that would help Tianjiu therapy work better and 2 treat more diseases. Totally 11 patients of asthma and 10 of allergic rhinitis were studied. They received Tianjiu therapy on the first days of the three dog days. The treating herbs included Ephedra, asarum, kansui root, corydalis tuber, white mustard seed and so on. For the patients of asthma, Feishu(BLI3), Dazhui (DU14), Fengmen(LU12) and Dingchuan(Extra) were selected in the stage of attack while Feishu(BL13), Gaohuang(BL43), Geshu (BL17), Pishu(BL2O) and Shenshu(BL23) were selected in remission stage. After treatment, the effective rate of asthma group was 90.9% while the other group was 100%. The plasma content of cAMP and the ratio of cAMP/cGMP were both significantly increased in two groups. The plasma content of eGMP of asthma group didnꊰ show significant difference aftcr treatment while that of the allergic rhinitis group decreased remarkably. Thus, we reasoned that Tianjiu therapy could inhibit the release of the inflammation medium from the cells through increasing the ratio of cAMP/cGMP, which could be made by increasing the plasma content of cAMP or decreasing of cGMP.
