Mechanical ventilation is an important means to rescue respiratory failure patients causing by various diseases, recently which has been widely used in clinical. Mechanical ventilation is a new-type disease content for the guidance of Chinese medicine theory, although basis in different diseases, but the features of which have respiratory failure and need ventilator to support treatment is in common. Observing these patients' symptoms in the process of respiratory support, analyzing their Chinese medicine etiology and pathology base could provide an important basis for Chinese medicine therapy of mechanical ventilation patients. This paper makes retrospective investigation and summarization of mechanical ventilation patients'Chinese medicine symptoms. Purpose is through the investigation of symptomatic patients with mechanical ventilation, summarizing their features of syndrome manifestations, in order to supply the proof for the dialectical therapy and to prove clinical curative effct. This article consists of two parts which includes literature review and clinical study. The literature review consists of two parts. The first part simply introduces some relevant clinical knowledge of mechanical ventilation, including principle and effect of breathing machine, influence on each system of body, physiological and clinical treatment goals, indications and contraindications, relevant critical illness, complications and their countermeasure, etc. The second part introduces emphatically the application of Chinese medicine in mechanical ventilation, mainly introducing Chinese medicine therapy for mechanical ventilation patients, according to clinical reports which give medical care to three situations, asthenia syndrome, sthenia syndrome and deficiency-excess syndrome.clinical study research on medical record from 117 mechanical ventilation patients, summarizes their syndrome manifestations before operating, applies SPSS (Statisticackage for Social Science) 17.0 to analyse, so as to discuss the regularity of distribution of mechanical ventilation patients' symptoms and guide clinical medication. The results:①atients treated by mechanical entilation in male is 64 cases, female 53 cases, the ratio between them is 1.2:1. Among them, most are old people, the oldest is 92,71-80 age which has 50 patients is the most;Incidence becomes younger, under the age of 30 years old has 4 cases, the youngest is 17.②The disease which has the highest rate (24.8%) is pulmonary infection,94.0% patients have chinese medical treatment.③Shortness of breath and weakness appears the most time among mechanical ventilation patients' symptoms, the rate is 95.7%, followed is be tired and lazy to talk(91.5%),positioning sting(64.1%),less pee and edema(55.6%),sternocostal or abdominal fullness and distention(47.9%),etc.④In the distribution of syndrome, appears the most is Qi deficiency, prompting for the treatment of mechanical ventilation patients could firstly consider tonifying qi to supporting healthy energy.⑤In the midst of Syndromes, two syndromes which the mostly exist at the same time is Qi deficiency with blood stasis, followed by Qi deficiency with Yang deficiency. One of the strongest correlation is phlegm-dampness with hot and humid type, followed by Yang deficiency with hot and humid type, Yin deficiency with hot and humid type.⑥Clinical outcome of Mechanical ventilation patients who are relative to Qi deficiency or Yang deficiency is better than who are relative to real heat or blood stasis, which could tell us mechanical ventilation has the effect of tonifying qi and recuperate depleted Yang in the theory of Chinese medicine, and provide clinical treatment idea whether to pay more attention to the excess situation for mechanical ventilation patients who tends to large excess type.
