Managers are one of the most important factors of enterprises, because their viability, efforts and performance have direct impact on enterprise's operational efficiency. However, the selection and appointment of managers for the state-owned enterprises have decided by the government departments and the party's organization department for long-term.This not only has no advantage to separation of government from enterprises, but also has adverse effects on screening for operating capacity of managers in state-owned enterprises and the establishment for mechanism of incentive and restrictive and the structure of corporate governance.This paper regards Marxism and Deng Xiaoping Theory as the guiding ideology, uses analysis method of theory with practical and the unity of politics and economics, investigats the evolution of the selection mechanism of managers in China's state-owned enterprise since the founding of People's Republic of China especially since its reform and opening up, analyses reasonable and deficiencies of existing policy, researches the corresponding issue and put forwards some ideas. This article is divided into four parts:The first part mainly introduces the selection mechanism of managers for China's state-owned enterprise since the founding of People's Republic of China especially since its reform and opening up. On the basis of data analysis and sample survey,considers currently the selection of managers in our state-owned enterprises have had the pilot of market-oriented selection, but it always uses the Chief selection as the main administration, and the ratio of the internal selection is relatively high.The second part analyses the problems of the selection mechanism of managers in China's state-owned enterprise, its adverse effects and reasons.This paper thinks the root causes of existing problems are reform path dependence, the lack of Awareness of property rights of state-owned enterprises, thorough reform of state-owned enterprises,and no establishment of the selection mechanism, then points out that market-oriented selection for managers for China's state-owned enterprise has became inevitable requirement for development and growth of state-owned enterprises.The third part mainly elaborates the meaning and conditions of establishing market-oriented selection for managers in China's state-owned enterprise.Paper thinks that the condition to realize market-oriented selection for managers in state-owned enterprise has matured,and market-oriented selection for managers in state-owned enterprise should to be the mainstream selection mechanism.The fourth part put forwards recommendations for realizing market-oriented selection of managers for state-owned enterprise, and thinks this selection needs a series of system reform, including regulating the establishment of the Board of Directors, the change of identity for managers in state-owned enterprises, standardizing the selection process, and the necessary measures and so on.Market-oriented selection of managers for state-owned enterprises is a long-term practice process,which needs constant practice to improve. Article's study on the selection mechanism of managers for state-owned enterprises is only theoretical study of a drop in the ocean,which hoping to play a forward effect..
