Hebei Province, The Producer Services Industry Association, And Spatial Distribution Of Analysis

Since the mid-20th century, the service industry has increased rapidly in the world economy and the process of social development. As one of the main engine in the regional economic development and necessary condition which promoted the international large-scale production, producer services sector have risen to the main content of the service sector. At present, China is in the middle stage of industrialization. As the world's most important manufacturing bases, the manufacturing development of China has facing many problems, including extensive growth, weak capacity of independent innovation, weak outstretched ability in the overseas and so on. The manufacturing has been in a critical period for the transition. The efficient producer services were the premise and guarantee for raising labor productivity and enhancing the competitiveness of products in the manufacturing. The lack of producer services would hamper the productivity of local manufacturing and industrial competitiveness.Basing on the analysis of industry relevancy and spatial distribution, this thesis discussed the general laws of development status, industry relevancy and space feature of producer services. Those could provide a scientific basis for industrial restructuring and optimizing spatial structure. At the same time, those would also help to enhance industrial competitiveness and change the way of economic development. The study systems of China's producer services in region-wide were complemented and enriched.First of all, the thesis introduced the background and meaning of the topic selection, research content, technology approach, the definition of producer services and research progress both at home and abroad.Secondly, through the research on the evolution of industrial structure and development of producer services in Hebei, realized the background of producer services development. The study showed that: the industrial structure of Hebei has been optimized gradually; the progresses of services were promoted by the economic development; the major factor for the development of the services in Hebei was intermediate demand; the level of producer services was low.Thirdly, basing on the analysis of industry relevancy in Hebei by the input-output analysis, it revealed that producer services provided services mainly for the secondary industry, especially for the manufacturing. With the depth of industrialization process, the service sector as the demand level of producer services for services has improved. The supporting action of producer services for agriculture was weak. Generally, for all sectors included in producer services, the driving force for economic development was stronger than the pulling power given by other departments. However, the forward and backward industry relevancy was not apparent.Fourthly, basing on the analysis with intermediate demand, industry energy level and industry relevancy influence degree of producer services in Hebei, the primary status of producer services has been occupied by transportation and warehousing industry, information transmission, computer services and software industry, wholesale and retail trade, accommodation and catering industry, finance and insurance industry, leasing and business services sector.Fifthly, from the view of the whole industry and sub-sectors, the paper summarized the spatial distribution features of producer services in Hebei. Focusing on the perspective of the scale of development, the spatial distribution of the overall displayed the unbalanced nature of space of producer services, while focusing on specialization, the spatial distribution of the primary sub-sectors studied the distribution of agglomeration areas. The conclusion indicated that Shijiazhuang was the core area of the producer services. In addition, although the differences of scale were significant in various cities, concentration of all sectors was not obvious and the advantages of specialization were not appeared.Finally, basing on the industry relevancy, industry characteristics of all the cities, status quo of sub-sectors, the future direction of development of producer services for all cities was marked out, and 11 cities would be divided into three zones of producer services. The purpose was to promote the optimization of industrial structure and upgrading of the manufacturing for Hebei by the development of producer services.
