China's Listed Banks, Competitive Research And Evaluation

The finance is a core of the modem economy, and the lifeblood of the national economy. China has joined WTO, almost China's whole financial market will be opened to the entire world, and the Chinese commercial banks will have to confront the competition and challenge from the powerful, advantaged large-sized foreign commercial banks without the government's protection. So it is pretty meaningful to discuss how to improve the competitiveness of Chinese commercial banks both in theories and reality. However, the competitiveness level of Chinese commercial banks is still far lower than that of the powerful foreign counterparts. At present, many problems exit concerning Chinese commercial banks, especially the state-owned commercial banks, such as conducting inefficiency, lacking of creativity, the workable quality of capitals and so on.。The relative concept of competitiveness level of commercial bank is derived from comparison. The premise of improving competitiveness of Chinese commercial banks is to correctly assess the present Chinese commercial banks' competitiveness level. And then, we cloud find the key causes influencing the competitiveness level based on the assessment, and propose the policies and measures to improve the competitiveness level. It is under the above background that the author tries to analyze and evaluate the competitiveness level of Chinese commercial banks.This article's analytic clue is that: firstly, the author elaborates the basic concept of enterprise competitiveness and features of it by reviewing the theory of enterprise competitiveness, analyzes the substance of competitiveness of commercial bank in details, further confirms the specialties of commercial bank's competitiveness, reviews and commentates briefly the analyzing methods of bank competitiveness, thereby offers the theoretical support to build up the index system of commercial bank's competitiveness. In the part of empirical analysis, taking 14 Chinese commercial banks as the analytic objects, and use the factor analysis method to give some prize for the bank's competitiveness.The creative points of the article are: the writer constructs a relative complete evaluating index system of bank competitiveness based on the theoretical analysis of enterprise competitiveness by analysis and elaboration of the substantial features and comprising causes of bank competitiveness, applying the Analytical Hierarchy Process, and according to this evaluating index system the writer makes the positive analysis of internal and external commercial banks to fed the weakest sector of the Chinese commercial banks' competitiveness and offer the corresponding measures and policies.
