China entering WTO, brought both opportunity and challenge to foreign trade enterprises. With the release of Foreign Trade Management Permission, China's mid-small scaled foreign trade family business grows quickly. The competition of enterprises relies on the competition of the talented staffs, the compensation management is the important part of the human resource management, plays an important role in the operation of enterprises. How to attract, retain and motivate the core human resource, is the profound problem to them. If it was used properly, the compensation management would help to attract, keep, and inspire the talented person, Otherwise, it would bring hurts. It's important for the enterprises to gain the advantage on existence and competition by establishing the new, scientific, systemic compensation management system in the new age. The reform and the consummation salary management system is also an urgent duty for the China's mid-small scaled foreign trade family business.LB Company is a small scaled foreign trade family business, exporting of woven arts & crafts. With eight years development, the current salary system exposed many problems which hindered the development of the Company. The unscientific and inappropriate compensation system impeded the activity of staffs. This thesis aims to help LB Company to solve the problem of attracting and stimulating staffs so as to improve the management and keep it the top advantage in the competitive markets by designing the salary system., and sum up the questions and the resolvents which might be facing when the China's mid-small scaled foreign trade family business.With the reference of the theories such as modern compensation management theory, we used several methods, such as questionnaire and interview, to provide academic and real diagnosis foundation for the compensation system design of LB Company. Firstly, introduced the development process and tendency of relevant compensation design theories in order to make theoretical preparations for redesigning the compensation system of LB Company. Secondly, discussed the present HR situation and current compensation system of LB Company, pointed out the unreasonable issues, such as the irrationality structure, lacking motivation, the mismatching between the compensation stratagem and the strategy of enterprise develop. Then the thesis makes new compensation system design for LB Company according to its actual situation. Finally, evaluates the new design plan, and makes some relevant predictions for the possible problems in the process of implement of te new plan.The thesis chose the case of LB Company, since the compensation system has the representative figures and issues among the mid-small scaled foreign trade family businesses, which are in the fast developing period. The writer hopes that the ideas and methods of this thesis could be helpful to the other similar family business.
