This study is based on international trade theory and infra-industry trade theory, combines analysis of theory and empirical analysis together to analyze the intra-industry trade of manufacturing sector between China and Japan quantitatively and qualitatively, and try to probe into the factors of infra-industry trade through regression model. First, on the whole this paper summarizes comprehensively the infra-industry trade theories, the domestic and international research results and weak points. Then it uses present authoritative Grubel-Lloyd index (namely G-L index) to calculate the index of infra-industry trade between China and Japan in recent years. From the results, we can see clearly that the trade volume of China and Japan has increased greatly and constantly, which greatly depends on the development of infra-industry trade. But which factors have really promoted the development of infra-industry trade of manufacturing sector between China and Japan? It isn't enough for qualitative analysis, so this paper sets up a mathematic model to do regression analysis and draws the relevant regression results based on full and accurate data statistics. In this way, we get the factors influencing the infra-industry trade between China and Japan. Finally, in terms of Chinese gains from and questions existed in infra-industry trade between China and Japan, this paper provides the replying measures and suggestions on how to promotes the dynamic advantage through infra-industry trade progressively in the future. The study revealed that the intra-industry trade, instead of inter-industry trade, has been becoming an increasingly dominant part in the trade of manufacturing sector between China and Japan and the trend is strengthening. The main intra-industrial commodities have been transforming to technology-intensive ones from labor-intensive ones and the trade construct of China has been improving. The regression analysis pointed out that technology improvement and FDI inflow are positive determinants while trade unbalance is a negative factor of intra-industry between China and Japan. In addition, the difference of GDP Per Capita, Economies of Scale and the Openness of the Economies seem not influence this phenomenon.
