| Nowadays, Foreign direct investment has become an important way that a country Survival in this new international economic environment. Great Mekong Sub region (GMS) as a land bridge linking China with Southeast Asia, and the same time, GMS named "untapped virgin" and "Finally a big market in Southeast Asia", is a new opportunity to Chinese enterprises to invest.As protagonist of foreign direct investment, enterprises are firstly faced with the choice that which path they will go. It will directly affect the success or not of enterprises operating abroad late. Because a suitable path will help enterprise to avoid risks of host country and display its competitiveness effectively.Under these, the article will explore the path and some other related issues that suit our enterprises invest directly to GMS counties under the background of the times that GMS cooperation is a rare opportunity to our enterprises' development. This paper will draw on the theory of foreign direct investment and its path of choice, as well as some relevant knowledge of sub-regional economic cooperation. Based on the analysis of comparative advantage of China to GMS countries and the present situation of our enterprises gone into GMS to invest as well as their motive, this paper focuses on the issue of the choice of path through case analysis. The thesis concludes with relevant suggestions.This paper is divided into six parts. The first part of the topics introduced in this paper's background, the basic starting point, research significance and methodology of the main content and basic structure. The second part recalled the theory from foreign and domestic which including FDI and its path and GMS. The third part is the foundation of fourth part, which analyzed the comparative advantage of China to GMS countries and the present situation of our enterprises gone into GMS to invest as well as their motive. The forth part is the core of this paper, researched the path that our countries that how to go into GMS countries to invest basis of the previous chapter. The first analysis is give a debate that how to make a choice from the cross-border M&As and green-field investment. Then it explored further the path that suitable to Chinese enterprises to invest directly to GMS countries according new issues. And there are five paths we explored, they are foreign direct investment based on transnational operations, foreign direct investment helped by Country cooperation, included into the value chain of leading enterprises, foreign direct investment by undertaking the public welfare services, foreign direct investment based on Enterprise Union. The fifth part is the given suggestions which from both levels including macroeconomic and microeconomic. The sixth part is the peroration and prospect, which is to sum up the deficiencies and inadequate of this paper. |
