Competitiveness Of China's City Commercial Banks

After more than 10 years'development, urban commercial banks have achieved great success and become an important component of Chinese banking system. But we should also realize that external environment of the China banking industry is varying roughly, and the competition of the domestic banking industry is becoming fiercer. Meanwhile, for those foreign banks, joining the competition is only a matter of time. Greater suspicion appears about their competitiveness and the sustainability of there development. In this background, it has a far-reaching meaning to research of the status and improvement of their competitiveness. Using the comparative analytical method and combination of qualitative and quantitative analysis, this essay thoroughly and profoundly anatomizes the competitiveness of urban commercial banks and put forward some constructive countermeasure for improving it.Firstly, based on the general theory of enterprise's competitiveness, this paper explains the basic conception and characteristic of enterprise's competitiveness, makes clear the particularity of the commercial bank's competitiveness and defines its connotation. Furthermore, the author makes reviews and simple comments on the analytical method about the bank's competitiveness by scholars from China and abroad. These have offered theory support for the positive study of ensuing chapters. Then, on basis of referencing the present research results from domestic and international authoritative organizations and scholars, this paper designs one set of evaluating index system which is much more practical and scientific.In the part of positive study, this paper looks 3 urban commercial banks and 3 joint-stock commercial banks in our country as research objects, forms the structure of banking competitiveness. It analyses from three aspects, which is the behavior storey, the potential competitiveness and the environmental factors. Is the comparison between urban commercial banks and the company joint-equity banks of our country, analyzes the competitiveness state of urban commercial banks in detail. The conclusion indicates that the whole competitiveness of urban commercial banks is lower than our commercial banks.Finally, this paper accordingly puts forward a series of measures and strategies on basis of combining with the actual conditions of urban commercial banks and drawing on our commercial banks'successful experience for reference, which establishes certain foundation for strengthening the competitiveness of urban commercial banks and keeping their persistent development in a healthy way.
