International trade of services is an important part of international trade. With the development of world economy and adjustment of industrial structure, international trade of services has been developing rapidly, and its status in national economy has been improving dramatically. But the backward statistics of international services trade in each country prevents statisticians from providing effective information for macro-economic adjustment. The paper elaborates the definitions of international services trade, and compares the BOP statistical system and GATS statistical system, and analyses the necessity to establish fully the statistical system of international trade statistics in China and its foundation. At last, combining with the reality of China, the paper forwards the framework of statistical system of international services trade in China.Here is a brief summary for each of the five chapters in this paper:The first chapter introduces the background of this paper and the history of international trade in services.The definition of international trade in services statistics is the main topic of Chapter two. The conventional statistical meaning of international trade in services called BOP statistics was described in BPM5, which defines international trade in services as being between residents and non-residents of an economy. GATS extends the meaning of trade in services to cover services delivered through locally established enterprises, and the corresponding statistics designated as foreign affiliates trade in services statistics. Also discussed in the context of trade in services covers services that are supplied by individuals temporarily located abroad.The third chapter focuses on establishing the index system of international trade in services statistics. The fourth chapter primarily forwards the framework of statistical system of international services trade in China and estimates the size of China's international trade in services according to GATS. Moreover, this chapter also introduces the characteristics of the statistics of the international service trade of the US.The fifth chapter is the main conclusion. The purpose of the policy suggestion is to providing effective information for macro-economic adjustment.
