The multilateral economic cooperation of East-Asia, which is the most dynamic continent of the world, has drawn great attention of the world. Due to China-Japan hostility, none of these two major countries rises up to the leadership of multilateral cooperation in this region. Therefore, rivalry for "leadership" is a unique phenomenon of regional multilateral cooperation in East-Asia.And as the author thinks, one of the two critical reasons underlying their cooperation for leadership is that either China or Japan has the ability to lead the cooperation separately, while the other is the dilemma of cooperation between them. In contrast with Japan and China, ASEAN plays a role of actual leader, and the United States an external interfering power, in the process of East Asian regional cooperation.Rivalry for "leadership" not only brings a special model of multilateral cooperation in this area, but also has profound implications for its future development. So, at the end of this paper, the author raises up her own analysis about the logical trend of East-Asia region cooperation.
