| Textiles and Clothing (referred as T&C) industry is China's traditional advantageous industry. China rank first in the world's T&C industry, Textiles and Clothing export is of great significance in China's export history. Being the crucial issue in T&C export, quota has become the most sensitive and controversial focuses in trade relation and negotiation between import and export parties. China's successful entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) is benefiting T&C export increase by gradual quota cancels by the ATC agreement, While in the same time is pushing China to an inevitable stage of fiecer competition ,because considering the domestic situation of economy and politics, the textile import countries have adopted other trade measures to control the quantity of import, for instance America and European Union reset restrictions in 2005 . China's T&C industry faces new challenge.This thesis focuses on quota issue in China's T&C industry, mainly discusses economic effects of quota in T&C export, by studying the quota theories and analyzing the changing quota system on the macroeconomics and microeconomics, this thesis give an overall economic analyze on the subject, construct a China characterized quota theory, has a deep discussion on China's quota mechanism, and propose the strategies for China's T&C industry.This thesis consists of five chapters: Chapter One makes the brief introduction of the subject and lay down the structure; Chapter Two examines the basic background of quota; Chapter Three mainly focuses on the economic analysis of the quota in T&C export, using models and instrument, in the order of free trade, quota, non-quota and the reset of quota; Chapter four integrates the foregoing study and has a complete comment on the allocation of China's quota mechanism and the last part is the conclution.The character of this thesis lies in its focus on the quota issue, and by using the economic tools it illustrates completely and vividly the subjects and the changing affects, in the mean while the thesis also uses macro and micro aspects to give an integral and practical analysis with large amount of statistics, thus presenting a whole and convincing picture. |
