Electronic commerce is a business activity based on the use of the modern electronics information technique in the whole global market. In the early 1990s, there are not so many companies which use it, but since 1997, it has developed so rapidly that it has being used as a lately economic phenomenon world widely. As the rapid development of internet and improvement of technology, the advantage of electronic commerce has become more and more obvious. Most governments and relevant organizations are studying on how to make full use of electronic commerce to obtain more benefit.As a developing country, China is faced with both opportunities and challenges. To play an effective part in the international market competition and obtain greater benefits in economic globalization process, we should pay more attentions to the development of electronic commerce and try to find its development regulation and influence on international trade.This article firstly explains the reason why electronic commerce can reduce trade cost and then bring competitive advantages. Secondly, it introduces all kinds of affects on international trade brought by electronic commerce from macroscopical and microscopical aspects, such as reforming of trade process, saving transaction cost, increasing revenues , improving efficiency and enlarging trading opportunities. Finally, after showing the present conditions of electronic commerce in foreign trade in China, the article give some suggestions and tactics accordingly.
