West corporations, especially multinationals, have been adjusting their competitive strategies and beginning cooperation against competition under the big pressure of business since 1980.Strategic alliances between corporations have been booming since 1990 with the development of economic globalization and the technology advancement. And this term is being highly concerned both in the field of academy and enterprise in the recent year. Strategic alliances, as a cooperative strategies between enterprises, is becoming a main stream of corporation competitive mode in the new economic era, and is playing a more and more important role in the process of keeping the corporation competitive advantages.Many large multinationals have come into China market, and Chinese enterprises are faced with the mission that request hold better market share in domestic and international market more and more. In the same time, with the domestic economy being in the period of rapid growth, more and more Chinese enterprises have cooperative arrangements with the multinational corporations through the foreign capital introduction. Though much improvement has been made in the domestic strategic alliances, in which there is a great disparity both in scale and form comparable to the large multinational corporations and also there are lots of issues needing further consideration.This thesis discusses the conception, category, the history and the latest development of strategic alliance, its motive and risk and the approaches of risk prevention are also mentioned. In addition, with analyzing domestic and international automobile market, and combined with the case of Ford motor Co., Ltd and Shanghai Motor Corporation and Chery Motor Co., Ltd, the thesis summarizes some the typical mode of the strategic alliance and puts forward some problem of Chinese motor industry, which will have certain reference to developing alliance strategy for Chinese corporations.
