In 1970, Toffler conceived a new manufacturing mode in his book Future Shock: With low cost and high efficiency as mass production, it can provide customizing product or service. Since then, the great imagination had been practicing and studied, it evolved to a new manufacturing mode, Mass Customization. The coming of Mass Customization brought along a new problem: the traditional organizational structure can not fit it well. According to Chandler's famous viewpoint that organizational structure should serve to strategy and it should transfer with strategy, Mass Customization companies must change their traditional organizational structure into a new form to adjust Mass Customization strategy. That is the main subject this thesis will discuss.This thesis has 4 parts mainly:The first part puts forwards the main subject .after the introduction of the context.The second part introduces some basic theories about Mass Customization and organizational structure.The third part analyzes the important reasons to transform the organizational structure. The surroundings has changed greatly; To accommodate the surroundings, some companies adopts Mass Customization strategy; In this situation, the traditional organizational structures have negative effect to Mass Customization strategy.The forth part of the thesis is the key one. At the beginning, it analyzes the ingredients which influence the designing of the Mass Customization organizational structures, including common ones and the ones relating to Mass Customization specially.
