The Assessment Of The Performance Of The Tourism Listed Companies Based On Dea

The great development of the tourism industry which is known as sunrise industry has encouraged the arrival of the listed company. As the leaders in tourism industry, the performance of them is of vital importance to evaluate the management level and potential development of the industry. So the evaluation not only can test the management and performance of the companies in a fair and reasonable way, but also can uncover the problems in time in order to provide suggestions for their future development and improving.After reading amount of theories and papers both abroad and domestic, I choose DEA which includes both the inputs and outputs as the research approach. This paper mainly talks about the 20 domestic tourism listed companies. Choosing operating expenses, labor cost, periodic expenses as the inputs while operating profits per person,assets turnover, increasing rate of prime operating revenue as the outputs, the paper analyses them through CCR,BCC and Malmquist index.Through DEA analysis, we can draw the following conclusions: the performances of the tourism listed companies are not very good, which means that there is great efficiency loss. And during 2004 and 2008, we do not see an obvious improvement of the performance. All these have proved that in order to rise the efficiency of the tourism listed companies, the managers should construct a high qualified employee team and pay more attention to the use of the information technology.
