With the market competition becoming more intense, an increasing number of enterprises regard human resource as the first resource, and strengthening HRM as an important approach to maintain the core competitiveness, and to win market position. Career management, the critical aspect of HRM, plays a significant role in enhancing professional competence of staff and consequently motivating employees. Meanwhile, career management can be effective in coordinating employee's personal development needs and business strategy development to realize mutual growth of enterprise and employees.With the deep going theoretical research and management practice, career management theory has made rapid progress. However, few of them involved how companies in different development stage carry out specific career management and how to make effective combination of career management and other HRM activities.The paper began with a practical question - how to improve the pertinence and effectiveness of career management by differential management methods, followed by the career management modes applicable to enterprises in different development stages, respectively. Afterwards, based on the comparative study of those management modes, it analyzed their trends and further proposed forward-looking career management strategies adopted to deal with the periodic leap-forward of an enterprise.The paper adopted corporate lifecycles theory as the main analytical tool and divided business development into three stages, which is entrepreneurial stage, growth stage and mature stage. The paper study on the respective features of resource, marketing and management within different stages, analyzed the focal problems human resource management confronts in each stage, and the effect they have on the selection of career management mode, and constructed the determination model of career management mode. In addition, it proposed the systematic career management mode with career management tools as the core, closely combining with other human resources management activities.Based on the analysis, this paper maintains that as companies develop from entrepreneurial stage to growth stage, and eventually reach maturity, the focus of career management also will be shifted, which requires other career management mode to meet its need. Constructing career management modes for three development stages, the paper, through further comparative study and trend analysis, proposed the forward-looking career management strategies adopted by the enterprise when dealing with dynamic periodic leap-forward, that is, being aware of the situation, strategy first, well implementing basic management and promoting systematic reform of human resource management functions.
