The robot teleoperation system is a kind of robot control system based on human-computer interaction technology which can help humans work under the risk or extreme environment. The virtual reality enables the operator to have a better sense of immersion, the operation will be more intuitive and convenient. It is significative that the virtual reality technology has application in teleoperation. Be supported by the National High Technology Research and Development Program of China"multi-sensory robot system for detection of dangerous goods", the paper's research work mainly revolves around these aspects as follows:1 Summarize the typical structure of the robot teleoperation system. According the characters and work environment, design the whole frame of the system. Creating the virtual work environment and the virtual robot which should correspond with the real robot strictly. The operator could telecontrol the robot in the local system.2 Make the virtual robot mold on the basis of the robot kinematics analysis with the design software is 3DS MAX, the work environment is our laboratory. Finally render the mold with texturing and lighting aimed to strengthen immersion.3 The human-computer interaction system has been accomplished basing on Eon Studio and VC++. The virtual work environment and virtual robot nodes are created and managed by the Eon Studio while the control of the robot including all commands, all kinds of parameter and the video are managed by the VC++.4 The control model of the system is Client/Server while information is transmitted on WLAN which corresponded to IEEE 802.11b standards. The Winsock technology has been application in communications platform. Finally, the overall design of teleoperation system is been achieved.
