With the rapid development of national economy, automobile and chemical industries, and with the sustained increase of private cars, the consumption of petrochemical resources shows a rapid growing trend, and its need is increasing day by day. The circulations of petrochemical resources, namely stocking, sale and storage, have become a problem with which petrochemical emprises are concerned. How to handle the petrochemical information and make decisions exactly is important for the emprises. Usually, the traditional statistics is used for calculating the demands of gas stations, then, the reports are passed to higher departments step by step. According to production and inventory, emprises make refined oil's transfers. Decision-makings are executed slowly. So that, when one kind of refined oil is needed in market, its inventory is not enough. But unneeded refined oil overstock in the stockroom. Those phenomena are easily appeared. So, in face of the fierce market competition, the more advanced studies of technology and methods in petrochemical information processing are significant for these enterprises. In the past, most enterprises used the earlier Client/Server-based petrochemical information system, adopted traditional statistics to handle information, and made decisions by virtue of experiences. In view of those situations, this paper adopts rough set to handle petrochemical information, obtains the scientific decision. And a petrochemical information processing system based on Browser/Server is built up in this paper.At first, in this paper, rough set and its advantage are introduced, and the attribute reduction flow of petrochemical information based on discernibility matrix is given out. Rough set is used to handle petrochemical information, the decision rules of petrochemical information is obtained through attribute reducing, and scientific references of decision is provided. Therefore, decision-making depended on previous experiences is not needed. Secondly, working principle of Browser/Server and the advantages of Browser/Server against Client/Server are introduced, and the system layers of petrochemical information system based on Browser/Server are brought forward. According to emprises'operating and business requests, the petrochemical information processing system with the ability of decision-making is built up, which is based on Browser/Server. In this paper, network technology, database technology and dynamic page technology are applied in this system. And the architectures and functions of the whole system are introduced. Every modules of the software are designed in detail. Finally, conclusions about the paper are given.
