The semantic of IP address in the current architecture are overloaded. IP address is not only act as indetitifier which used by transport layer, but also act as locator which using for the routing system. This kind of overloading caused the problem including the routing scalability, mobility and multihoming. The industrial and academic area proposed several solutions to solve these problems. Identifier (ID) and locator split is one of the solutions. For this solution, HuaWei Limitied Company proposed a scheme called RANGI which is short for Routing Architecture for the Next Generation Internet. The object of RANGI is to propose a new routing and addressing scheme based the idea of ID and Locator split which is achieved by adding a new ID layer in host's network protocol stack. With the introduction of a new identity naming space, the transport and application layer of network protocol stack are bound to ID instead of the IP address, and the layers below the ID layer is bound to the Locator which is IP address. When the package was send from the application layer to the ID layer, the ID layer will query the global distributed Mapping System to find the related Locator which was mapped by the host ID in this package. This Mapping System is one of the most important parts in the RANGI, so the design of this Mapping System will impact the performance of RANGI. Now, RANGI Mapping System has already propose a mechanism whic based on the DNS(Domain Name System), and use the DHT to expand DNS capacity. Through the research, this thesis finds that existing mechanism of RANGI Mapping System doesn't have the detailed implementions and not support mobility and multihoming. Therefore, This thesis suvied the current solutions of ID and Locator split, and design a novel Mapping System under the RANGI based on the existing storing technology, this novel Mapping System not only support the collecting, storing and resolving the ID/LOC mapping information, but also support the mobility and multihoming. This thesis firstly introduces the existing main solution of ID and Locator split and the related mapping system. Secondly, this thesis introduces the main ideas of RANGI, and analyzes the requirements of related mapping system. Based on the above analysis, this thesis presents a mapping system scheme, requirement desgin, top level design, and detail design. Finally, according to the content of detail design implement mapping system and set up the environment to verfiy the validity of mapping system solution.
