The Remote Diagnostic System is a combination product with network technology and Telemedicine. It not only provides medical resource sharing but also eliminates the geographical restrictions between doctors and patients. With the domestic developments of communication technology and Telemedicine, the Remote Diagnostic System is increasing in its scale and complexity. So how to maximize the reuse and development efficiency of systems becomes a key. For this situation, a software development method of the Remote Diagnostic System based on components is put forward in this paper.At first, the development and research status of the Remote Diagnostic System at home and abroad are introduced. After discussing the theory of software development method, especially the method based on component, an in-depth study on key technologies of the system is done. Under the guidance of the component analysis theory, the system components have been extracted by establishing the border model, business process model, feature model and object model, finally formed the component hierarchy model of the Remote Diagnostic System. Based on the design, the implement principle and methods about how to encapsulate core components of the system such as database management, image processing, image transmission and report editor are described in details. Ultimately, the development work on the Remote Diagnostic System has been accomplished by assembling the components.The practice that the system has been put into use in a Telemedicine Network at present has proved that the application which component technology is used in Remote Diagnostic System is an effective way to get rid of repeat development, and it improves the flexibility and maintainability of systems. Thus it helps to speed up the development of Telemedicine Network System, and promotes a wider use of the Remote Diagnostic System.
