This paper takes the commonly used human organ word "Ya" and "Chi" in ancient Chinese and its derivative words as the target we study, and takes the ways of integrated lexical semantics and cognitive linguistics research theory. On the basis of a wide range of corpus,we start with the original meaning of "Ya" and "Chi", and then classify their extended meaning by comparing their different semantic images. Combine that we apply the theory of cognitivelinguistics to analyze the complex phenomenon of semantic extension and vocabulary derivation. Finally, we sum up the cognitive law of derivation of this type of organ words and cultural meaning which it reflects.Specifically, this paper is divided into the following five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction part. It gives the information of the purpose and significance of this paper, the relevant research background and current research status, research methods and ideas, and corpus descriptions. The second chapter analyzes semantics of "Ya" and "Chi". First, it discusses the exact original meaning of "Ya" and "Chi" and make a comparative analysis of their semantic images through the approach of combining cognitive linguistics with lexical semantics, and then sum up the main items of their extended meaning combining with interpretations in reference books to compare the differences in semantic image and analyze the effect it has on its extended meaning. The third chapter introduces the derivation of organ words in "Ya" and "Chi" category. It studies the derivation and evolution of organ words in "Ya" and "Chi" category mainly through theories of metaphor and metonymy in cognitive linguistics. We make a systematical classified description of these words in accordance with their different derivative methods in order that we could make a systematic organization and explanation for its extension in meaning. The fourth chapter describes the cognitive interpretation and cultural meaning of derivation of organ words in "Ya" and "Chi" category. It analyzes the role that metaphor system and metonymy system play in semantic relations. It alse summarizes the unique cultural meaning which are reflected in the process of cognitive interpretation of derivation of words in "Ya" and "Chi" category. The last part is the conclusion which makes an objective brief summary of the full text.
