Analysis On The New Era Women-painted Canvas Art In China

The development of women-painted canvas art in China has experienced a long and complicated history. It is a process from vague to clear, a process from without gender awareness to independently advocating female awareness. The commentators hold different views on the accurate start time of the development in China. Most commentators think it was started from the 1990s. However, the author of this article believes that the era of economic reform, which regenerates the energy of China, was the key time of this development, since development of anything is urged by both external forces and independent initiation of internal awareness. Therefore, this article analysis the Chinese canvas art painted by women artists from the new era, discusses the unique charm of women-painted canvas art distinguished from men-painted canvas art, and investigated the development process of canvas painting by women artists.The article focuses on the analysis of the new era women-painted canvas art in China. It chronologically separates the development of women-painted canvas art in China into 3 periods:the period from the end of the 1970s to the beginning of the 1980s, the 1990s, and the period after entering the new century. It analysis and discusses the development stories of representative female oil painters and women-painted canvas arts in the 3 different periods. Finally, it concludes their status and value in the development process of Chinese women-painted canvas art respectively, and points out the existing problems in the development process.
