A wide rang of attention was paid on the plenty of silk books which was unearthed in the Third Tomb of Ma Wang Pikes in Changsha, Hunan, in 1973. A sorting team sorted out and published these books, one of which, called Warring States Period Letter, has great historical value. The book, which covers lots of spoken lobbying, is a good material in researching on the language in Warring States Period.The article studies the address term in archaic terms, especially the social and official terms by comparing the contemporaneous Strategies of the Warring States and Records of the Historian and contrasting the medieval New Anecdotes of the Time. There are three characteristic in Warring States Period Letter:first, speech, shows an up tend of double syllable; second, word formation, mainly bases on the modifier-head structure; third, affix, " lao " blurs and " zi " comes into being. In the last part, for a better understanding of the address term in archaic times, the article analyzes the cultural connotations of address term from the points of manners, the concept of superiority and inferiority,rank.
