Objective:To investigate the causes of tibia nonunion. Methods: The clinical data of 67 patients with tibia nonunion and 78 patients with healing well after tibia fracture were retrospectively reviewed, which included sex, hemoglobin, albumin, blood calcium, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, fracture site, fracture typing, fixation method of the first diagnosis and treatment, incision infection after operation, defect of soft tissue of skin . Case control study method was used. And Logistic multivariate analysis was used to find the relation between tibia nonunion and these factors. Results: multivariate analysis revealed that tibia nonunion was correlated with incision infection after operation, defect of soft tissue of skin, fracture typing(P<0.05)and blood calcium was the protection factor. But there were not relation between sex, hemoglobin, albumin, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, fracture site, fixation method of the first diagnosis and treatment. Conclusion: patients with tibia nonunion were most at the age between20 and 45 years old and were correlated with blood calcium, incision infection after operation, defect of soft tissue of skin, fracture typing. To decrease the happening of nonunion, incision infection should be prevent and calcium content should be added at the base of reposition and firm fixation.
