Objective:To evaluate 3D-TOF MRA findings and diagnostic value of neurovas-cular compression in patients with facial spasm. Methods:3D-TOF MRA manifestation and operative results of patients with facial spasm were reviewed retrospectively. Results: 43 cases had vascular compression or contact at 3D-TOF MRA imaging in 86 sides of the facial nerve of patients with hemifacial spasm.43 sides showed vascular compression or contact related symptoms and signs. The difference between the symptomatic sides and asymptomatic sides was statistically significant (P<0.01).43 symptomatic patients were verified as vascular compression or contact by the operation. Conclusion:3D-TOF MRA had higher specificity and sensitivity in diagnosing of neurovascular compression or contact facial nerve, it played an important role in performing the surgery of microvascular decompression.
