Selenium is preventing agent for many diseases. The research about the bioactivities of selenium has been performed deeply. But it still stays at the primary stage in the world to combine the sucrose and selenium into sucrose selenite. The sucrose selenite transforms inorganic selenium to organoselenium and its molecule structure has the selenite group. The specific configuration can restrain the growth of cancer cell. The biologic action of sucrose selenite is hyper than the sodium selenite. And the selenium of sucrose selenite can be easy absorbed and used by organism. Nowadays, the highest selenium content of the organoselenium as rich selenium nutriment and anticancer drugs which are sold in the world is 1.2%. In this article, the selenium content of sucrose selenite is more than 20%. And good biologic activity of selenium shows in many respects. Therefore sucrose selenite of the high selenium content is excellent in biologic activity. This article summarizes separation, purification, identification and biologic activity of selenium polysaccharide. The main research contents and conclusions are as follows:1. We synthesized sucrose selenit and determined its selenium content accurately by UV Spectrophotometry. And the selenium content is 21.3%.2. The structure of sucrose selenite was characterized and analyzed by Fourier Infrared Spectrophotometry and UV Spectrum. And we made the stability study of sucrose selenite. Preliminary demonstration showed its molecule structure had the selenite group.3. We studied the antitumor bioactivity of sucrose selenite on many kinds of cancer cells. Sucrose selenite showed a valuable broad spectrum of antitumor bioactivity in humans. IC50 was calculated by LOGIT method and the effect of timeliness and dose of sucrose selenite was discussed on various kinds of cancer cells.4. The antitumor bioactivity of sucrose selenite was studied on HeLa cells by using MTT and cell morphology.5. The sucrose selenite exhibited excellent antimutagenic bioactivity by Ames tests. And its inhibition rate was 97.4% when its concentration was 500μg /dish. 6. In addition, we had a few living animal experiments to sucrose selenite, such as animal nutrition tests and acute-toxicity tests. And the results showed that sucrose selenite had the lower acute-toxicity than sodium selenite and the selenium of sucrose selenite could be easier absorbed and used by organism than sodium selenite.Therefore, the results show sucrose selenite has a good future prospect as a kind of rich selenium nutriment or anticancer drugs.
