| Objective:To study the therapeutic effects of scalp electric acupuncture combining with moxibustion in treating posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) after Wenchuan 5.12 earthquake.And to provide the solid evidence to clinical applications of acupuncture and a new method to prevent PTSD.Methods:A total of 138 patients were recruited in this trial and randomly divided into two groups through RCT:paroxetine hydrochloride group (control group) and scalp electric acupuncture with moxibustion group (treatment group). Each group was treated for 12 weeks. Patients were scored relatively before the treatment, six weeks after the treatment, and twelve weeks after the treatment, using Clinician-administered Scale for DSM-IV (CAPS), Hamilton Depression Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD), and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA). Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale (TESS) is used to analyze the side effects of the drug every week in the first four weeks and every two weeks in the rest weeks.Results:The research was finished well, with a balanced grouping, a stable baseline, and a significant comparability. After the analysis of integrations of CAPS, HAMD, and HAMA, we found that the score differences before and after the treatment were of statistical significance in all four groups (P＜0.01), but of no obvious statistical significance among the groups (P>0.05). After the analysis of the reductive ratio of CAPS, HAMD, and HAMA, we found that the score differences before and after the treatment were of statistical significance in all four groups (P<0.01), but of no obvious statistical significance among the groups in CAPS and HAMD(P>0.05) except HAMA(p<0.05).Conclusion:The overall effects are similar between acupuncture group and paroxetine hydrochloride group, but the former is better to ease the anxiety of ptsd patients and is more secure.Therefore, the acupuncture therapy is worth extending. |
