Objective:To observe the change of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in cord blood neonatal asphyxia, in cord blood of light,severe asphyxia, and changes of VEGF and IGF-1 in cord blood of newborn infants of asphyxia exist fetal distress and not exist fetal distress, and changes of VEGF and IGF-1 in cord blood of newborn infants wich Apgar score is normal while exist fetal distress. And to observe the correlation between VEGF levels and IGF-1 evels. We probe the effect of VEGF and IGF-1 in pathogenesis of neonatal asphyxia.Methods:1. Cood blood VEGF levels were tested by ELISA in the group of normal newborns,newborn infants of asphyxia,light and severe asphyxia,newborn infants of asphyxia exist fetal distress and newborn infants of asphyxia not exist fetal distress,newborn infants wich Apgar score is normal while exist fetal distress.2. Cood blood IGF-1 levels were tested by radioimmunoassay(RIA) in the group of normal newborn,newborn infants of asphyxia,light and severe asphyxia,newborn infants of asphyxia exist fetal distress and newborn infants of asphyxia not exist fetal distress,newborn infants wich Apgar score is normal while exist fetal distress.3. Explore the correlation between VEGF levels and IGF-1 levels in cord blood of newborn infants.4. Explore the correlation between VEGF levels and Apgar score in all newborn infants of asphyxia, explore the correlation between IGF-1 levels and Apgar score in all newborn infants of asphyxia.Results:1.In comparison with normal group, VEGF levels of neonatal asphyxia were highered significantly(t=-10.37,p<0.01),and IGF-1 levels reduced significantly (t=-22.91,p<0.01). 2. There were significance difference about VEGF level among normal group,newborn infants wich Apgar score is normal while exist fetal distress,light neonatal asphyxia group,severe neonatal asphyxia group(F=113.44, p<0.01), and There were significance difference about IGF-1 level among all groups (F=205.54, p<0.01) 3. In comparison with light neonatal asphyxia group, VEGF levels of severe neonatal asphyxia group were highered significantly (t=2.75, p<0.01), and IGF-1 levels of severe neonatal asphyxia group were reduced significantly (t=-5.36, p<0.01).4. There were negatively correlated between cord blood of VEGF and IGF-1(r=-0.811, p<0.01).5. There were negatively correlated between cord blood of VEGF and Apgar score (r=-0.808, P<0.01), There were positively correlated between cord blood of VEGF and Apgar score (r=0.600, P<0.01)Conclusions:1.the measurement of VEGF and IGF-1 in cord blood might be aid to diagnose neonatal asphyxia.2. the measurement of VEGF and IGF-1 in cord blood might be aid to predict the degree of neonatal asphyxia.3. In comparison with newborn infants of asphyxia exist fetal distress group and newborn infants of asphyxia not exist fetal distress, Indicate fetal distress and neonatal asphyxia may have close relationship and common base of pathology.4.the measurement of VEGF and IGF-1 in cord blood might be aid to predict hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy(HIE).
