Xanthopappus subacaulis C. Winkl. is a flowering plant belonging to Xanthopappus C. Winkl. genus. Biological activity studies performed on this species have shown the root has activities on the scattered reduce swollen legs and the leaves have so on. Xanthopappus subacaulis C. Winkl. is a perennial herb. The date of flowering period is May to July and fruiting period is August to September. It is distributed in Xinjiang, Shanxi, Hebei and Inner Mongolia and mainly grown on meadow, grassland and xero-hillside.Clerodendrum japonicum(Thunb.) Sweet,a herbal drug, is a flowering plant belonging to Clerodendrum L genus. Biological activity studies performed on this species have shown the root has activities on the scattered reduce swollen legs, the leaves could relieve poison in pus and so on. Clerodendrum japonicum(Thunb.) Sweet is a perennial deciduous or evergreen shrubs, with the height of 1.5-2 meters. The date of flowering period is May to November and fruiting period is May to November. It is distributed in jiangs, the south of zhejiang, jiangxi, hunan, fujian, tanwan, guangdong, guangxi, sichan, guizhou, yunnan and mainly grown on tropical asiatic lower altitudes forest margin or in bushes. In order to explore much more chemical constituents of Xanthopappus subacaulis C. Winkl and Clerodendrum japonicum(Thunb.) Sweet and to expoit new resources of Chinese Traditional Medicine. The chemical constituents of Petroleum ether, CHCl3, EtOAc and n-butanol fractions of EtOH extraction were isolated by means of silica gel column chromatography (CC), preparative thin layer column (PTLC), Sephadex LH-20, polyamide and recrystallization etc respectively, and 23 compounds were obtained; the structures of 23 compounds were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods:EI-MS,1D NMR (1HNMR,13C NMR,DEPT), along with comparison with authentic samples and the data from literature. They were identified as diterpenoid alkaloids, flavonoids, and steroids, coumarin etc. In the end of the thesis, one review was made on the systemical summarization for the constituents and the activity of the family of Verbenaceae, and reported the study of new compounds for ten years isolated from the plants, structure, name, source plants and literature.
