Soil erosion resistance reflects the sensitivity of soil erosion. Through artificial rainfallsimulation experiment and scouring experiment of different scales, this paper established the soilerosion resistance index from energy point of view. The index is the coefficient of soil erodibility.Meanwhile, the paper calculated the coefficient of different kinds of soil. Based on the results, the paper analyzed the difference of soil resistance among loess, black soil, purple soil and redsoil. These kinds of soil are the main erosive soil in water erosion area in China. Finally, thepaper studied the main factors which effect energy loss in the process of soil erosion. The resultsare as following.(1) It is the difference of soil structural characteristics that make soil erosion resistanceprocess different. The result is got after analyzing the cause and structural characteristics of loess, black soil, purple soil and red soil.(2) Under the condition of the gradient of 10°and rainfall intensity of 1.6mm/min anddrainage flows of 3.6L/min, the paper analyzed the four kinds of soil erosion process underdifferent hydrodynamic condition. It got that sediment production per unit flow of loess is themaximum, and that of the red soil is the minimum. The study suggested that ability of soilerosion resistance is close with three factors. They are particle composition of soil, organicmatter content and soil bulk density.(3) The paper put forwards up the index of soil erosion resistance from energy point of view.It is the coefficient of soil erodibility KE. The value of KE can reflect the ability of soil erosionresistance. The bigger the value, the stronger of soil erodibility is, and soil erosion resistance isrelatively weaker. Based on the calculated results, the value of KE is relatively stable. Serialnumber of the value is as following, the loess is the maximum, second is the black soil, purple soil is the third and red soil is the minimum.(4)The occurrence of erosion there is a certain critical energy consumption. Different typesof soil due to their different soil properties, slope erosion occurred in the critical energy needs ofdifferent values. Plotting the amount of slope runoff erosion and runoff relationship betweenenergy consumption obtained for the critical energy value of soils red> purple> black soil> loess.Based on the relationship between erosion-resisting coefficient Kc and physicochemicalproperties established by predecessors, erodibility coefficient KE and erosion-resisting coefficientKc has been transformed and get the formula of erodibility coefficient KE.(5) This paper analyzed the factors that effect energy loss in the process of soil erosion, andconsidered that the energy loss process of soil erosion is related to particle composition of soil, organic matter content and soil bulk density.
