Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) is a highly contagious disease of cloven-hoofed animals. The etiological agent of FMD is FMD virus (FMDV), which belongs to the genus Aphthovirus of the family Picornaviridae. Here, we construct three plasmids expressing shRNAs targeting 3D of FMDV, and in the study we also make use of other plasmids targeting FMDV which are constructed by others in the laboratory. After transfecting all of these plasmids into HEK-293, we measured interferon—βinduction of all samples. The results indicate that some siRNAs can induce Eukaryotic cell's interferon—βproduction indeed, and the ability of interferon induction has no relations with the length of siRNAs, but is more likely to be sequnce -dependent.
