Summarized the researching works of selection in plus tree of fir (Cunninhamia lanceolata), 86 provenances, 362 families and 90 clones of fir in 15 test areas have been investigated supplemental in Jiangxi province. This paper has been collected and analyzed systematize the large numbers of data and information in 3 —27 years. The main research results fulfilled in this article:1. The fir (Cunninhamia lanceolata) is distributing and span widely. There are a great deal of genealogy of fir by natural selection and artificial selection in long-team in China. It can obtain upper increase production in short time by selective breeding.2. According to the test results of provenance trial plot in 27 years, there are 9 superior provenances was choose through public appraisal. It was show that the plus tree if they behaved excellent in juvenile stage; they also behave in maturity stage. It was explained that the stability of the plus tree was preferable. As the result of the growth of the provenances test in 27 years, the fir provenances can principium classify as follow: fast growth forepart; fast growth anaphase; fast growth continuance.3. The provenances of Jiangxi province behave superior collectivity. There are three types in 9 superior provenances. They belongs to the types of fast growth anaphase. It would be emphasis used the origin fir provenances. The provenances of Jianou, louchang, rongshui have been selected into the 10 famous types ahead. It belongs to fast growth continuance. If some other fir provenances wound been selected in jiangxi province the three provenances would token into account precedence.4. Based on the quality mensuration of its singe parent filial generation from 362 families, there are 72 plus trees have been screened out. The high of tree increase production reaches 17.18% average. The chest height diameter of tree (DBH) increase production reaches 17.33% average; the volume increase production reaches 59.46% average.5. There were two arrangement works that have been done for clone selection in fir. The First, a lot of high productivity and well adaptability clones of fir were selected during 13 years. It can shorten its rotation cutting. The second, a large number of fastgrowth and good quality timber clones of fir were selected by the way of comparing the timber quality. It can extend to production.6. It was showed that chenshan red heart wood fir was not obvious difference as the others 5 choiceness provenances (Guangxi rongshui, Fujian Jianou, Jianxi tongguo, Guizhou jingping, Hunan huitong) in three indexes of the length of fiber, the ratio of junior timber and the density of basis. They all belong to superior provenances. The ratio of the heart wood was obvious difference in the six provenances. The ratio of the heart wood of chenshan red heart wood fir is maxim and its coefficient of variance is minim. Studied on the law of its timer's genetic variation, it was considered that the timber quality don't vary when it was planted in other places in the country. So it wound extend to the site adaptability in China.7. It was showed in the test of provenances and selection of family that the number of branch tray was closely related to the character of growth of the fir. The number of branch tray was an importance index in the selection of the character of growth of the fir.8. There was a tendency that correlativity of sooner and later of the character of growth was weakening as the age of the tree growth. It should be farther study on the age of the tree and the methods of the forepart selection.9. The heritability of the character of growth was weakening along with the age of the tree growth. When it turns into mature stage, its growth become slowness and the plus reduce greatness.10. Jiangxi province is one of the mostly site adaptability areas of fir. It also belongs to base of commodity forestry in China. According to its characteristic of production of commodity forestry, the fir wound be still become one of the afforestation trees in the future. In this paper, the technologies of selection and breeding have been summarized completely. And on the basis of the material of 27 years of fir, some point of view have been put forward. The tactics of selection and breeding of fir in the future have made out in this paper.11. The distribution of the plus tree has been emphasis in this paper. We should be exerting the plus trees effectively of increasing production. When the superiorprovenances was selected, they wound be distributed at once in our afforestation projects. There have been extending 70hm2 now. The outstanding families have been extending in southern and central of JiangXi province widely. They also apply to rebuild the primary seed orchard in Jiangxi province. The methods have been adopted in production that when the test has been studied, the extension has been proceeded. The clones which behaved better ahead have been extended 11 counties.
