The study has assayed the metabolisable energy of brewers?dried grain and extruded rapeseed 1 by the TME assay and the metabolisable energy of wheat bran, brewers?dried grain, rapeseed meal, and two kinds of rapeseed by the conventional addition assay and the TME addition assay. The study was conducted to ensure the previous results of some scholars, and compare the metabolisable energy by the TME assay, conventional addition assay, and the TME addition assay. Thirty-two Avian cockerels were used in this experiment, and 8 cockerels were used to bioassay the metabolisable energy for every feedstuff tested by every method. The TME values of wheat bran, extruded rapeseed 1, extruded rapeseed 2, rapeseed meal, and brewers?dried grain accessed from the TME addition assay and the conventional addition assay were 2.630, 3.535, 3.362, 2.177, 2.774 Kcal/g DM, and 2.522, 3.400, 3.694, 2.402, 2.659 Kcal/g DM, the difference between the TME values from the two methods are not significant. The TME values of extruded rapeseed 1 and brewers?dried grain from TME assay were 3.5 12 and 2.163 Kcal/g DM, in these results, there are not significant difference between the TME values of extruded rapeseed 1, which were obtained from the conventional addition assay and the TME assay, but the TME value of brewers?dried grain from TME assay is different from the conventional addition assay. The results of this study shows: a. For some indigestible feedstuffs, the true metabolisable energy values accessed from TME assay by force-feed single feedstuff are lower than the true values. b. The corrected TME method, that is the TME addition assay, can avoid the weakness of this decrease.
