It was analyzed stress distribution and ability of balance of different plant-types of opposite maize and alternate maize, under condition that investigating plant-type characteristics of all kinds of maize. The reason of lodging of non-crossing opposite maize was probed into. Model was established about light interception and capture in canopy of maize, showed differences of light interception and capture in canopy of different plant-types of opposite maize and alternate maize. The result indicated:1, Because of symmetry of opposite maize , distribution of stress of opposite maize was more reasonable than that of alternate maize.2, There are differences in stabilization of plant-types of opposite maize and alternate maize, crossing-opposite maize is the most plant-type because of thick stem upworthing root and reasonable cross section.3, The essence of lodging of non-crossing opposite maize was that some unusual phenomenon has occurred on the two origin of leaves of the same joint- site of stem . During the shaping of lodging, the tortuous moment, which was produces by the upper part of leaves and stems, is the direct cause of it . Hence, crossing-opposite maize is a little more ideal type.4, A little thorough and suitable model of maize photosynthesis was built by method of mathematic , This model included radiation sub-model , distribution of light in canopy sub-model and daily photosynthesis gross sub-model .In distribution of light in canopy sub-model, the concept of leaf-amount density function was introduced.It indicated that there are some differences on the interception and capture of sunlight energy about different plant-types maize. From the practical test datum, this model had certain precision and use value.5, Regarding sunlight model as a basis, it was compared the differences of different plant-types of maize in the process of sunlight energy interception and capture. Under certain planted density, opposite maize had 10%~20% more sunlight interception and capture than alternate maize, especially crossing-opposite maize, because its plant-type accord with ideal one( leaking of light in top layers ^ decreasing equably of light in middle layers, accepting light in bottom layers). This was basically consistent with the field observation and practical test results.It is the first time using way of mechanics and mathematics model to analyze systemically balance and lodging and interception and capture of light in different plant-types of opposite maize and alternate maize, moreover, offered a new way. At the same time, it provides theoretic base for selection of plant-type of opposite maize and high yield.
