As the advancement in the modern technology and the increasing competiveness of the global market, on the other hand, as the fundamental nature of the industrial product, the product reliability becomes one significant index to evaluate it, because once some large system fails when it operates, it may lead to tremendous economic loss and probably casualties. And therefore, it is undoubtedly necessary to apply the reliability technology when designing, manufacturing and operating the industrial system to improve the system reliability as well as to ensure it operates correctly.The present industrial products become ever-increasingly large and complex. There are two unrealistic assumptions in the current research concerning the reliability of the large and complex system. That is, there are only two states in the system: either the system operates correctly or fail completely all the time. The reliability theory based on the multi-state system, besides being capable of accounting for the states in traditional assumptions, is also able to account for many intermediate states according to the practical requirements. And thus, it is more practical to apply the multi-state system reliability theory to solve the reliability problem of large and complex systems.The traditional reliability method of multi-state system is based on the assumption that the system state can be divided precisely. However, in practice situation, there is some fuzzy in the division of the system state. Therefore, the reliability method of the multi-state system based on the fuzzy theory was developed in the recent years. In view of the uncovered failure in the complex system, this paper employs the fuzzy universal generation function to research the reliability method of the multi-state.1. Introduce the basic theory and the Research of the multi-state system reliability. Illustrate the meaning of introducing the multi-state reliability into Fuzzy area.2. Introduce the method that applying the fuzzy universal generation function analysis the reliability of the multi-state system.3. In view of the uncovered failure in the complex system, we propose a new reliability analysis method of the multi-state system, which based on the fuzzy universal generation function. 4. Propose a new work sharing group design method, which considers the uncovered failure in the multi-state system. Utilizing this method, we can obtain an optimal design of the work sharing group, which is not only satisfied the requirement of the system performance, but also maximize the system reliability.5. In view of the existence of the multi-fault mode, we propose an extended fuzzy universal generation function method and utilize this proposed method to analysis the reliability of the multi-state in multi-fault mode.
