Modeling and simulation technology has become an important tool for industry product development and innovation. However, for a complicated system, the simulation model's appliance as well as its precision is the key factor to the reliability of the simulation results. To make the simulation results creditable, maitaining the similarity between simulation model and actual system is the only way. Therefore, how to evaluate the credibility of the simulation model has become one of the hot areas. Aiming at the reliability assessment problem for simulation model, the assessment model of the transmission stiffness for planetary servo gear reducer is constructed based on the similarity theory and Analytical hierarchy process(AHP). Then its validation is verified by using simulation method and actual experiment.The main contents include:1. The factors affected on the transmission stiffness are analyzed by using the similarity theory, then are ranked hierarchically based on AHP. The simulation model followed by the characteristic values resulted from the experts proposal is constructed, and the transient operation process is simulated by using FEM in order to the relative deflection angle between the input and output sides of the planetary servo gear reducer.2. The performance test platform, involving conceptual design, detail design and actual fabrication, is investigated, which many of the functional indicators such as stiffness and precision of planetary servo gear reducer are taken into account.3. Theoretical formula for the stiffness is divided and applied for comparing the result with the FEM. Meanwhile, the experimental stiffness is measured by using the platform, and compared with corresponding FEM result. The weights of affect factors are determined by using the AHP, and the similarity is computed between the simulation model and the actual system based on the similarity theory. Hence, the reliability is accessed depending on the similarity size.4. Compared with the simulation and test results, the potential defects for the platform are deep investigated, then reasonable improvement schemes are proposed for reconstructing the platform. The assessment for simulation model based on similarity theory and AHP is demonstrated in this paper. The excremental result for the servo planetary reducer stiffness reveals its validation, and the proposal method may be guide the assessment for other simulation model.
