Application of household air-source heat pump assisted solar water heater for the villa is significant in practical project.Solar radiation resources' annual variation and the outdoor humiture distributed situation in Xi'an area have been analyzed. It explicits the utilize degree of solar energy resources and feasibility of the air-source heat pump whole year in Xi'an area.A household air-source heat pump assisted solar energy water heater has been designed to demand the whole year hot water requirement of a villa with four persons. Under the typical meteorological year's design parameters, the operating characteristic of the device in the monthly mean date situation has been studied, and the performance on the device has been analyzed. The conclusions are as follows. The solar energy unit alone can satisfy the system requirements about 5/12 time in one year. In the other time solar energy collection hot system heats water in tank to 34.4℃, which reduces the ioad of the air source heat pump subunit. Air-source heat pump opening or not influences the installment's coefficient of performance greatly, therefore annual performance factor APF was introduced as the performance evaluation target of the air-source heat pump assisted solar water heater. It can evaluate the performance of installment which moves whole year reasonably. The economic efficiency of the installment was analized. It demonstrates that the equipment is economical in Xi'an area.This research demonstrates that the household air-source heat pump assisted solar water heater in Xi'an area is energy saving.
