This paper describes designing structure and charge of a new bomb ejection cartridge and designing its testing simulator device. By theoretical calculation, the whole structure of the cartridge has been determined. By contrast tests of cartridges on the PFT12 ejection device and the testing simulator device, validity and equivalency of the testing simulator device have been proved.On the premise that the cartridge meets the requirement of its configuration and size in GJB2339, the new cartridge adopts such a structure in which there are a single central electrode and a grounded case. The electrode is pressed into the cartridge case with interference fit. The joint is riveted in a ring shape and coated with paint and sealer, which improves the strength and tightness at the input end of the cartridge. The cartridge sealing is completed by crimping its case end with a rolled groove. There is a rubber ring compacted between the case and a cover disc. The pressed and deformed rubber ring effectively improves the tightness at the end of the new cartridge. A squib in the cartridge which adopts new technologies ensures that the cartridge will be used safely and reliably.The propellant charge in the new cartridge is designed with the ones in standard cartridges used for reference. The new cartridge is loaded with a mixture charge which consists of three types of propellant:flake, pellet and main charge, flee mixed together. The squib ignites the flakes at first that is easy ignited, which quickly establish a pressure, then the pellets are ignited, finally the main charge when the ignition ability is strengthened. This ignition course makes the pressure gradually and smoothly rise in the PFT12 ejection device combustion chamber, which improves the ability of doing work of the fuel gas. Tests show this charge manner can meet the performance requirement of the cartridge in doing work very well.By comparing the theoretical calculation results with the performance test results, the charge quantity in the new cartridge is determined:Gflake=1.4g, G5/1=2.0g, G15/7=7.75g, which can meet the requirement of the doing work in the cartridge and the requirement for use of the PFT12 ejection cartridge device.Because making the PFT12 ejection device spends a lot of money and the device can be used few times (80 times), the economic considerations of the test motivate to make the testing simulator device. However, the real bomb ejection device working process is relatively complex. By designing the testing simulator device and by testing comparison proof, the function indexes of the cartridge tested on the testing simulator device is determined. A lot of testing results show that the testing simulator device runs stably, is reasonably designed and reaches the goal to carry out the function test for simulating the PFT12 ejection device.
