Mechanical supercharger is one of the supercharging equipments of internal combustion engine. It is applied widely for improving the ICE's power output by increasing the intake density. There is a significant effect of mechanical supercharger performance on supercharging, so the performance study should be seen as the precondition of the application of mechanical supercharger.The mechanical supercharger has been taken as the study object. And study of the mechanical supercharger has been conducted in theoretical and experimental ways to analyze and solve the influencing factors. The main contents of this dissertation are as follows:1. The working process of supercharged engine has been analyzed. Then the performance of supercharged Chery SQR372 engine has been calculated according to the working process analysis of supercharging. It is shown by experiment data that the power and torque of engine have been increased by supercharging.2. The match problem of engine and supercharging system has been analyzed according to the basic rules of supercharging. Then a proper scheme of mechanical supercharging has been proposed. It has been analyzed that the main factors influencing supercharging effect are performance parameters such as pressure and flow rate.3. The basic performance parameters of mechanical supercharger have been analyzed. And a kind of improved involute profile of rotors has been put forward based on the traditional profile and practical requirement.4. The internal leakage and flow fluctuation models has been set up based on geometric parameters of traditional profile rotor and improved profile rotor. They have been analyzed as the main influencing factors of mechanical supercharger's performance. The simulating results have been gained by numerical calculating.5. The experiment of a mechanical supercharger has been established to measure the performance parameters of the mechanical supercharger combining with virtual instrument programs based on LabVIEW platform. Then the experiment data has been analyzed. And it has verified the theoretical analyses. The experiment data shows that the supercharger's practical characteristic is in accord with theoretical analysis. And it shows that the flow fluctuation has been solved by structure improving.6. The performance of mechanical supercharger has been predicted based on artificial neural network technology and experiment data. The GRNN prediction model with higher accuracy has been selected to predict by comparing BP neural network model and GRNN model of mechanical supercharger. Then the performance map has been obtained by predicting, which benefits the simplification of experiment process and the design of supercharged engine.
