At present, the more application of slope stability analysis method in deep foundation pit is still the limit equilibrium method. This method applies widely, but there are also inadequate. Therefore, slope stability analysis methods are still developing, the minimum potential energy analysis is a recent development of the slope stability analysis. And then based on the principle that potential is the minimum of the balance and stability system, it obtains a displacement whose potential is the minimum from potential changes of whole slope, which makes a normal stress distribution of slip surface obtained directly. Finally, using the balance conditions and Moore-Coulomb strength criterion, it can get the safety factor directly. The concept of this method is simple and clear, and error compared to the traditional limit equilibrium method is in the accepted range-nearly2%-3%, which makes the results credible.Based on the previous research work this paper study the principle of minimum potential energy on the slope atability analyse especially to the Ureta and the two-dimensional model of a cylinder. By the comaring of this two models with the other models it provinces the model are right. Meanwhile, this paper presents the jointed rock slope formulation and deduces the formulation which can be used in any slipe sufaces. The results calculated by the minimum potential energy provided by this paper and the limit equilibrium method are nearly same in the cases . the main works have done in this paper:1,Further considering minimum potential method of slide plane for any shape, it constructs the calculation formula of related safety factor.2,It analyses impact which common reinforcement measures of deep mixing pile (anti-slide pile) of foundation pit engineering on potential of slip mass, and constructs improved model of minimum potential method. Then, it deduces the calculation theoretical formulas.3,Numerical construction examples show that results of the method are rather close to the calculation results with other commonly used method, which expands the application scope of traditional minimum potential method. 4,By the calculated results on the anchoring slope projects confirmed this method is right, the results calculated by this method even equal the result by the other methods. It expansion the minimum potential energy.5,By the calculation of six cases, it conformed that the minimum potential energy method is concise and accurate.Checking the actual construction in this paper, it provides a detailed comparison to the minimum potential method without consideration of reinforcement measures and limit equilibrium method, which shows the feasibility of the method.Finally the minimum potential energy methods applied to the analysis of Changji highway's slope project and a deep foundation pit project shows engineering applications of minimum potential method.
