Igniters based on boron igniting compositions are most commonly used in solid rocket motors for missiles. The stability of the igniter output has a large effect on the attack accuracy of missiles. So, in a sense, improving the stability of the igniter output means to improve the attack accuracy of missiles. In this article, by experiments with a certain igniter for missiles, three aspects that have effects on the output performance of igniters are studied.1) With the boron based igniting compositions, the influences of it's binder contents, load pressure and initial burning area on the igniter's peak pressure, working time and igniting time are studied. Result shows that too high contents of the binder in boron based igniting compositions is bad, and changing the content of the binder within it's range can adjust the performance values such as peak pressure, working time, igniting time and so on.2) The importance that the integrality of compositions during its burning has a high influence on the stability of the igniter output is discussed.3) By experimenting with a certain igniter, an igniter matching idea inside the igniter is deduced. It shows that the igniter matching has a positive effect on the control of the igniter output performance. From theoretic study to practical experiments, the research conclusions are well-validated...
