With the fast development of our country, the construction of expressway is mainly in mountain regions in next years. Building expressway in mountain regions, because of the restriction of the geography and alignment, high-filled embankment and deep excavated cuts will exist widely. Then it cause the question of subgrade stability outstandingly, and the stability of subgrade performed concentratedly the excessive settlement or differential settlement. Differential settlement occurs in mountain's highway, which will result in cracking, pavement structure breakage, jump at bridge abutment and so on, making against traffic and travel safety, then it affects the using function of expressway.Based on the technology project of Hebei province transport bureau named "Study on the controlling technology of differential settlement in mountain's expressway", this paper did a theoretics research on the differential settlement in mountain's expressway, which mainly contained four parts as follows:1. Based on vast investigations of expressway projects at home and abroad, the mechanics and the influential factors of differential settlement in mountain's expressway have been analyzed.2. With ANSYS program, the finite element model was built to study the law of differential settlement, and the cut-fill of vertical section model was put forward for the first time; And the influential factors of the differential settlement such as modulus, the kind of soil, filled height, pavement structure, construction time, were studied deeply.3. The mechanical reponse of the pavement was analyzed, based on which controlling criterion of differential settlement was put forward.4. The controlling measure of differential settlement was analyzed, which mainly contained the choice of roadbed filling, ground treatment, the application of geotextile, drainage technology of subgrade. And the treatment measure of testing road was put forward.
